Fort Worth Museum of Science and History: Week 04
This isn't a goodbye, but a see you later. I am eager to share that after my YAP internship I have grown much closer with my museum family and will continue to work as the part-time employee I am during my time at TCU. It is crazy looking back four weeks ago this day seemed so far away, but here we are!
I hosted my outreach story time yesterday afternoon and it was incredible! I had a blast reading to my crowd of 35! During the reading we talked about equity and equality, colors, and our favorite kinds of music. Asking questions and listening to observations and predictions kept the crowd involved and eager to know what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed this experience and will make it a goal to continue my involvement with the Central Branch Library here in Downtown Fort Worth.
This week at the museum I had the opportunity to connect with some of our budgeting staff. I wish I would've contacted them before joining the Washington Week budgeting team. Although we were able to pull together a great plan, we could've used some expert guidance. They encouraged me to pursue some sort of finance or budgeting minor, so I can better learn to manage my limited budget during college and during the job hunt.
This experience has been amazing and I am so glad that I will be able to continue to grow as a museum staff person after YAP. Within these four weeks I've gotten to connect with such a diverse group of people, sit in and contribute during event planning meetings, and even walk into my own farewell desert party in the back closet. These experiences reminded me why I love being part of a museum environment, I love to help others. Every time I had the opportunity to interact with someone I wanted them to feel connected, engaged, and walk away knowing something new. This mindset and goal keeps me motivated during my work and in my everyday life.
Like I said before this isn't a goodbye, but see you later.
Buena suerte familia, mejores deseos!
